Wet Paint Photography

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in English and Fine Arts, I moved into position with a busy commercial photographic studio “Standish and Preece” in Christchurch, New Zealand. As an outgoing personality and a quick learner, this led me into photojournalism a year later, where I was named “Young Photographer of the Year” by the New Zealand National Community Newspapers Association in 1993. I was also nominated for the Sir Edmund Hillary Commission’s Women’s Awards in 1994 for the Pacific Photographic Award. I then established my own freelance photography business in New Zealand. My desire to broaden my field of experience both professionally and personally took me firstly to Europe then the United States in 1995 where I worked for three years with the Cruiseship Picture Company in Miami running photo operations on board twenty five cruiseships. Always an “ideas” person, my enthusiasm, and creative initiative involved me in implementing a network of photographers in Florida and California prior to leaving the United States. I moved to Australia in 2000 in order to expand my photography business in Australia and the United States.

Photojournalism, events, portraiture and wedding photography. My creative background has enabled me to design all my own promotional material, and my own website. Highly skilled in Photoshop applications. Clients include – Lifestyles Magazine New Zealand, The Classic magazine Australia, Harte Event Management, Queensland Government, Delacruz Apparel, Kuralbyn Resort, Sanctuary Cove Resort, Oceanside Real Estate, Bose Sound Systems – and in New York : Haircraft Systems and Geo Blaze.

February 2000 – September 2002 Operations Manager for Event Photography International in Australia.

Liasing with our corporate clients, designing promotions, quoting and coordinating events as well as personally photographing high profile events for our major clients – Cutter and Buck Clothing, Harte Management, Qantas Global Classic, Warner Brothers Movie World and Hyatt Hotels. I was responsible for a staff of twelve photographers.

1995 - 1999 Photo Operations Manager, Cruiseship Picture Company Inc. USA
I was the main liaison for the company with Princess Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Lines, and was responsible for ongoing staff training, hiring photographers, and all aspects of photography and print processing on board.

Reception and general administration duties including invoicing and accounts, banking, stocktaking and ordering, multiple phone line handling and setting up filing systems. Liased with clients and laboratories, hand processed photographs and photographed weddings, portraits and commercial work for the studio.
